ABOUT: PRACTICE SESSIONS
Phlebotomy Practice
Our Phlebotomy practice session will review arm and hand anatomy, phlebotomy equipment that is essential for blood draw, and practice correct and safe arterial stick procedures. We will review blood collection and proper procedure for labeling the specimens for the laboratory. Here the focus is on practicing exactly what you will be doing in a professional setting with an instructor who will be your mentor during the practice session. This is a comprehensive 5 hour practice session. Our classes are small.
IV Insertion Practice
Our IV insertion practice session will review anatomy of the arm and hand relevant to IV insertion. We will familiarize students with the equipment needed for peripheral IV insertion, we will review steps a clinician should undertake before inserting an IV. We will discuss choosing a vein and selecting a suitable catheter. We will practice venipuncture techniques, securing your catheter, and review successful strategies for clients that are a "difficult stick". This is a comprehensive 5 hour practice session. Our classes are small.
